LINCOLN VILLAGE

Lincoln Mill 1.jpeg

Our work at Lincoln Mill Ministry began in 2005 at 113 Barrell Street. Our practice has been to work every Thursday and Saturday morning starting in September and finishing by the end of May. Our job is to restore the existing houses that are in very bad shape into clean modern homes. We do so by taking the insides down all the way to the dirt and then building it back into a new home. We leave with a livable home as a gift to someone we don’t know, nor will ever know, and pray that they live in the comfort of this home with joy, peace and love as we leave a part of ourselves in the walls and floors.

We are working on the house at 2004 Levert, finishing up the outside trim, then the flooring and trim inside. We plan work from 8 to 11:30 on Thursdays and Saturdays. Come join us if you can. If you have any questions, you may call, text, or email Steve Pinke.

PRAYER SHAWL

The Prayer Shawl Ministry of WHBC began in Jan. 2004. Since then we have knitted and crocheted over 600 shawls for those going through difficult times and to celebrate the new babies, graduations and other joyous occasions. The shawls have been given locally as well as across the country and some even overseas. The wonderful thank you notes we receive sharing how much the gifts have meant have blessed those of us involved and our Church!

BACKPACK MEALS

BackPack.jpeg

Our Deacons Council has for several years sponsored Backpack Food Bags for Spring and Fall break for Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School students. This school is in a low income area with all of its students receiving free breakfast and lunch during the school year.  This came from a brainstorming meeting of the deacons looking for a church wide missions project. Twice a year we pack 500+ bags with nine days of breakfast, lunch and a snack. This is to replace the food these children would normally get at school during the breaks. We have several packing sessions and then load our church trailer and deliver to MLK.

WOMEN ON MISSION

Women-On-Missions.jpeg

Women on Mission is a group who want to help make a difference in the world by getting involved in mission outreach in our community. We usually meet the first Monday evening of each month during the school year. Our mission projects this year included:

  • Christmas Gifts for 12 Foster Children

  • Gift cards for seniors for Christmas

  • Collecting luggage for Foster Children

  • Grief Ministry bags

This is a great way to make new friendships with other women at Weatherly.
