A Plan for Peace of Mind

Preparing for the Future with Wisdom, Grace, and Practical Guidance

Will you die someday? Do you know someone who will? If so, this workshop is designed for you! Sign up below to let us know you are coming.

We have all heard about the importance of preparing for the end of life, but sometimes we find it difficult to actually move forward with a plan. We may be unaware of the types of preparations that are needed. We may not know whom to ask for help. Or we may just feel uncomfortable talking about our own death or the death of our loved ones. To overcome these obstacles and provide the essential information, the workshop will feature four speakers:

  • Bryan Andrews, a practicing attorney for 26 years, an elder law specialist, and staff attorney at Legal Services of Alabama. He will discuss the important decisions you need to make and the legal documents you and your family must have.
  • Rev. Laura I. Lemley is a chaplain with Hospice Family Care in Huntsville. She will lead a session entitled, Demystifying Hospice and Palliative Care. She will discuss the differences between Home Health, Palliative Care and Hospice and the benefits they offer and what they don’t.
  • Handy Avery, a retired Minister of Music who has planned and assisted in funerals since 1970, will facilitate a discussion about planning and implementing a funeral or memorial service.
  • Rev. Valerie Burton, Senior Pastor of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church, will provide an introduction and centering moments during the morning.
