At Weatherly Heights, we celebrate the worth, gifts, and talents of every person. All are seen as equal before God. Regardless of race, nationality, gender, or sexual orientation, everyone is welcome to join, participate, and lead—as preachers, deacons, teachers, or members of committees and ministry teams.
We honor the Baptist belief in “the priesthood of the believer,” which means we respect and celebrate diverse perspectives on faith and scripture. We also value the rich variety of religious traditions in Huntsville, embracing our own faith while respecting the beliefs of others.
Weatherly Heights is proudly affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Baptist World Alliance. We interpret the Bible through the lens of Jesus’s life and teachings as shown in the Gospels. As one of the first Baptist churches in Alabama to ordain women as clergy and deacons, we are committed to breaking new ground. From creating an English as a Secondary Language (ESL) program for Huntsville’s migrant population to welcoming Ukrainian refugees and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we are dedicated to inclusion and hospitality.
Our church is built around meaningful traditions like Sunday School classes, Wednesday night Bible studies, and lay-led special courses. We also value international and local missions, social gatherings, and hands-on ministry. Worship at Weatherly connects people to God through scripture, prayer, and service.
We also reflect the broader Christian tradition through thoughtful worship. Symbols like our banners and clergy robes remind us of our deep roots in faith and our connection to Christians around the world. Our music draws on these traditions, offering beauty and inspiration to enrich the worship experience.
In short, we are a unique, Jesus-centered, progressive Baptist church, and you are most definitively welcomed here!
