Weatherly Heights Baptist Church serves southeast Huntsville with growing outreach to nearby communities.

We are fully inclusive.

Weatherly recognizes each person's worth, as well as their gifts and talents. All are considered as equal before God. At Weatherly, all persons, regardless of race, nationality, gender, or sexual orientation are eligible for membership and leadership positions (including preachers, deacons, teachers, committees and ministry teams).

At Weatherly we practice the long-standing Baptist belief in “the priesthood of the believer.”  We celebrate the diversity of biblical interpretation / religious opinion.  Additionally, we value the many religious traditions within the larger community of Huntsville, believing that we need not invalidate another’s belief to embrace our own.

We are a progressive Baptist church.

Weatherly is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (which separated from the Southern Baptist Convention) and the Baptist World Alliance. The criterion for interpreting the Bible is Jesus Christ as depicted in the Gospels.  We were among the first Baptist churches in Alabama to ordain women clergy and deacons.  When the migrant population in Huntsville grew, Weatherly established an English as a Secondary Language (ESL) program.  Today we are openly embracing Ukrainian refugees and people of the LBGTQ+ community..

We keep many aspects of traditional Baptist churches. Weatherly is committed to close-knit Sunday School classes, Wednesday night Bible study, lay-led special classes, international and local missions, and social activities. We foster connection to God through worship, scriptural teaching, devotional material, calming prayer, and participation in hands-on local ministries.

Weatherly recognizes the liturgical heritage of Christendom. The paraments, clerical robes and stoles, and other liturgical symbols are a constant reminder that we stand in a broad, deep Christian tradition.   Our music is traditional and high quality.
